Many have asked where the name 'LANIS' (pronounced la-neese) came
from. Owner, Stephanie Hsu sat at home one evening on her balcony
watching the sunset, sipping a glass of wine and thought of names for
her store. She thought of all the things important to her - her family, her
friends. She thought of her younger sister, Lanelle, who went to heaven
moments after birth and her own birth place, Paris France. Two words
combined into one - Lanelle & Paris. From there, LANIS was born. A
perfect name...
Steph always had an eye for fashion. Growing up watching her mom cut
out pictures of models she thought were beautiful, Steph followed in her
mom's footsteps always dreaming, but never thinking that she herself
would actually end up in the fashion world.
Steph, fresh out of college went to work for a computer memory
manufacturing company, Kingston Technology. After 5 years, she had
now managed the company's world wide pricing. She loved what she did
and loved the people she worked with even more. Something was
missing though and she even had a little breakdown. She realized it was
time to pursue her old dream of being in the fashion world.
Not really knowing where to start, she went to work at a local boutique
and found her calling. Shoes.... Handbags.... and Fine Jewelry.... A
woman's guilty pleasures.
